About Community
Lennox Island, a 540-hectare island located in Malpeque Bay off the northwest coast of Prince Edward Island, Canada. Connected by a short causeway and bridge, Lennox Island is home to 450 Lennox Island First Nation band members. Lennox Island First Nation has in total 1056 band members, many of which live off reserve.

Lennox Island businesses are winning regional awards for their amazing work, and acquiring grants federally and provincially to continue upgrading and improving. The pride this community has in what they have accomplished is evident in the faces of all community members and moving forward this will only keep on growing.
Community Mandate
Lennox Island is moving toward creating more opportunities for the community members who live on and off reserve, moving slowly away from the tight federal guidelines of the Indian Act. We want to see our people have control of their education, their membership, their ability to fish within the moderate livelihood guidelines, and create new and long lasting relationships all across PEI.
Economic Priorities
In Lennox Island we are creating opportunities for teachers, nurses, artists, trades people, entrepreneurs and many, many other individuals. Our children have so many opportunities for them to grow up to be strong and proud of who they are and where they come from. Business is growing all over the Island from a new fire station and day care centre, to a new emergency shelter and that’s just the beginning. Now is the time to come and see how many new and wonderful things are happening and that do not just benefit this community but the surrounding area as well.
Community Assets
There are four main businesses here, the Lennox Island Development Corporation, Bideford Shellfish Hatchery, Fisherman’s Pride, and Malpek Cannabis/Tmawey Smoke Shop. They are also home to a community owned thrift shop, health centre, elementary school, church, craft shop, cultural centre, daycare, and a brand-new fire hall. Culturally, they have nature trails to help community members and visitors reconnect with nature, blueberry fields and the beginnings of our green house project. As well as a women’s shelter, sweat lodge, Aboriginal Women’s Association PEI head office, and our wonderful ceremonial Mawi’omi grounds.
